Democrats – YOU Started It!

Page One of the Democratic National Committee playbook is titled “Let’s do it Ourselves and Say They’re Doing It!” No greater example could be the faux claim that Donald Trump is the cause of all this “division” and the amping up of heated rhetoric.

Yeah, right.

First, we hear Democrats claiming that Trump endorsed the Ku Klux Klan – as if the Klan just sprang up under the tutelage of Trump. The real fact is the Klan started over a hundred years ago in Pulaski, TN and their membership was almost completely made up of Democrats. Thus, the despicable hatred of the Klan can, in no way, be laid at Donald Trump’s feet. And if you read ANY of his remarks regarding the events surrounding Charlottesville, Trump NEVER endorsed nor condoned the actions of the Klan.

But let’s look at where this rhetoric originated.

About twenty years ago, the Democratic Party took a decided turn for the worse. They decided to go “all in” on identity politics – the demonization of those outside the demographic circle if you dared criticize someone inside the demographic  circle. That new attack philosophy generated some of the most hateful rhetoric possible. For example, Rep. Louis Slaughter stood on the steps of the Capital and claimed Republicans were trying to “kill women”. Harry Reid stood in the well of the Senate and viciously attacked those not voting for a health bill by saying Republicans wanted to withhold cancer treatment for women. Rep. Andre Cason claimed Republicans wanted “blacks hanging from trees” and Maxine Waters called John Boehner and Eric Cantor “Devils”. Let’s not forget the myriad of Representatives who claimed Republicans wanted to starve children when they balked at massive increases in food stamps.

And, of course, the most intense political tagline ever utilized: “Republicans are waging a WAR on WOMEN!”

What is more definitive is that EVERY EXAMPLE above is directly tied to an ELECTED REPRESENTATIVE of the Democratic Party….not a pundit or talking head on cable news, but someone actually ELECTED by Democrats.

Now, each and every example cited above happened well before Donald Trump ever decided to run for President. In 2008 the Republicans nominated the honorable John McCain to run for President. He was unwilling to fight back when the left started attacking him. The same scenario played out in 2012 when the gentile Mitt Romney ran for office. The Obama campaign sank so low as to claim Romney intentionally caused cancer in some workers at a firm in which he held an equity position. Good ‘ole Mitt refused to fight back.

After numerous election cycles of this abusive language, the electorate of the Republican Party woke up and decided to let a “street fighter” named Trump carry their message….and the Democrats never knew what hit them.

It is now obvious that the Democratic Party cannot stand the heat they drove into the kitchen. Cries of horrible language, division (the foundation of identity politics, no less)  and claims that Trumps is the progenitor of attack politics abound – but we know the truth:

DEMOCRATS – YOU STARTED IT!
